Employers in the spotlight
25th July 2012
Ensuring the quality of health and safety training in the workplace will be the responsibility of the employer rather than the HSE when proposed plans are put in place next year.
The HSE will continue to provide guidance on the required standard a training company should meet but it will be the employer’s responsibility to ensure they choose the right company to train their colleagues.
WorkSafe Training meets all the current guidelines on health and safety training and attended a recent seminar to hear more about how the changes would affect clients.
Chris Parsons, Director WorkSafe Training said: “Ensuring the safety of colleagues in the workplace is essential and soon companies will need to be more careful about the training providers they choose to train employees. There is a lot of concern from employers about new training companies flooding the market with little experience in the industry.
“WorkSafe can reassure all of our clients that we meet the required standards and have a track record and established training packages that have been approved by the HSE.”
While the exact date of the changes has not yet been released, WorkSafe will continue to keep all clients updated of any developments.
