Instructor Approval

WorkSafe Training Systems is a supportive HSE approved training provider that is the perfect partner for new or existing first aid instructors seeking approval to deliver training.

Becoming a WorkSafe Approved Instructor means you are able to teach HSE approved first aid training courses with the support, resources and certification of an experienced and established awarding organisation.  WorkSafe has been approved by the HSE for delivery of First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work since 2006.

All WorkSafe instructors will undertake a period of initial training or standardisation.  Several options are offered to meet a range of skill levels that recognise previous qualifications or experience where appropriate.

Successful candidates will be approved for an initial period of 12 months and will be able to teach a comprehensive range of first aid courses.  Some candidates may be required to complete a period of development prior to being able to deliver our higher level of courses such as a three-day First Aid at Work.

How do I apply?

Download the WorkSafe Instructor Application pack and follow the instructions provided. You will need to provide a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your relevant qualifications and experience with your application.

After your application has been submitted WorkSafe will verify it and contact you to let you know next steps for how you can become an approved WorkSafe Instructor.

These steps may include:

• An invitation to attend one of WorkSafe’s instructor training courses – we offer a crossover course for those who hold approval from another organisation.
• Information about any additional qualifications you may need either before or during any period of approval
• A request to supply further information if required.

How do I maintain my instructor approval with WorkSafe?

To maintain approval with WorkSafe you will need to:

• Deliver at least three WorkSafe courses, at any level, per year.
• Maintain your FAW qualification or recognised exemption.
• Provide evidence of an instructor verification visit during the period of approval. Comply with mandatory training bulletins and protocol changes.

How do i deliver courses after becoming approved?

WorkSafe courses can only be delivered by an approved instructor working under either a Training Centre or Associate Training Provider agreement.  This system provides a verifiable route for maintenance of quality, return of certificates and administration.  Following attendance on an instructor course you will need to register your organisation or company as a WorkSafe Training Centre or Associate Provider by completion of the appropriate application form.  More information on this process is on our Training Centre Approval Page.
