Training Centre Approval

WorkSafe Training Systems is a HSE approved training provider that partners with organisations who want to deliver approved first aid qualifications. 

Gaining accreditation from WorkSafe means your organisation is able to deliver HSE approved first aid training courses without the need to spend time and money obtaining approval from the HSE or QCF.

How do I apply?

Download the application pack and once completed return to WorkSafe for assessment. Your organisation must have at least one WorkSafe approved first aid instructor who will deliver training courses under your accreditation.

We offer two types of accreditation with WorkSafe, depending on how many FAW courses your organisation will deliver.  The two options are outlined below and further details are in the application pack.

1. WorkSafe Approved Training Centre

To be accredited as a WorkSafe Approved Training Centre you will need to meet the following criteria:

• Plan to deliver at least 6 FAW or FAW Re-qualification courses per year.
• Ensure you have at least 2 WorkSafe instructors and assessors, approved to FAW level, available to work for the training centre.
• Nominate a specific person as Training Co-ordinator who will be the point of contact for all correspondence and maintenance of training records within the centre.
• Agree to undertake an annual External Verification of the centre.
• Maintain comprehensive Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance to cover your training activities.  A copy of which must be held on file by WorkSafe.

2. WorkSafe Associate Training Provider

The WorkSafe Associate Training Provider accreditation is for independent training providers and organisations with in-house instructors that will not be able to meet the criteria of 6 FAW courses per year.

This accreditation scheme is perfect for smaller providers, allowing them to deliver HSE approved first aid courses but under the umbrella of WorkSafe approval.

The criteria for approval as an Associate Training Provider are:

• Undertake to deliver at least 3 WorkSafe courses, at any level, per year.
• Ensure you have at least 1 WorkSafe approved instructor working with/for your organisation or company.
• Agree for all instructors to undertake an annual external verification visit, unless an internal verifier can be appointed.  For more details on having an internal verifier under the associate training provider model please contact us.
• Maintain comprehensive Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance to cover your training activities.  A copy of which must be submitted to WorkSafe for inspection.

What are the costs associated with accreditation?

Approved Training Centres need an annual verification visit to the centre for which a fee, currently £175 (plus VAT) is payable.

There is no charge to be registered as a WorkSafe Associate Training Provider but individual instructors will need to pay for an annual external verification visit to maintain their instructor approval. This annual fee is £125 (plus VAT), unless your organisation is able to provide internal verification services via a sector competent verifier who has been approved by WorkSafe.
